Navigate Microsoft Teams


The left bar buttons let you switch between Activity, Chat, your Teams, Calendar and Files and other options.  You can drag and drop the buttons to re-order them as you like.  Note; the options you see may differ depending on how your Teams is set up. 


Use the two chevrons at the top to move back and forward between Teams pages (just like the back and forward buttons on your web browser).

Profile Settings

Select the three ellipses to the left of your profile picture to:

  • manage your profile settings
  • change apps settings
  • change your profile picture
  • check for updates
  • download the Teams mobile app.

View and organise your teams


Click the Teams icon in the left bar to see your Teams.   You can drag the Teams around to reorder them.  Note that the screenshot shows the List view, but you can change this to a Grid view in your profile settings.

Join or create a Team


To find and then join a Team or to create a new Team, navigate to the bottom of the Teams pane and select Join or create a team.

Manage your Team


To manage your Team, select the three ellipses to the right of the Team name.  You can add or remove Team members, set permissions, create new channels or get a link to the team.

Calendar / Meetings


The Teams calendar is integrated with the Outlook calendar:

  • Calendar events created in the Teams calendar appear automatically in your Outlook calendar
  • Calendar events created in the Outlook calendar as Teams meetings, appear automatically in your Teams calendar.

Add apps.


There are number of ways to add an app to your Team.

Chat


To view your chats, select the Chat icon in the left bar.  To start a new, one-on-one or small group chat, select the New Chat icon at the top of the Chat pane.

Files

Select the Files button to get access to:


  • Files recently created in or uploaded to the Team
  • A longer list of files created in or uploaded to the Team
  • A list of files downloaded by you from the Team (this is simply a link to your PC's Downloads folder so the files may have been moved to deleted)
  • Access to your University of Strathclyde OneDrive for Business.

Use the command box



You can search in the command box for channels, chats, people or specific items such as files, images, etc.  You can also launch apps from the command box.

Another feature of the command box is Slash commands.  Enter a / (forward slash) and then press the Enter key, find the action you want and click on it.
