Using MFA Overseas
If you are travelling to a different country and you have set up the authenticator, this will still work overseas. If you are unable to access mobile data overseas you can use the code from within the app. Please see I'm Being Asked To Authenticate But I Have No Signal Or Wifi On My Phone.
If you are travelling to a different country and have only text authentication set up, this can be less reliable. If you have WhatsApp installed on your phone, Microsoft will send your one-time codes in a WhatsApp message. This provides extra security through encryption and allows messages to be received if you have a Wi-Fi connection but no mobile signal.
If you do have difficulties authenticating while abroad, we can reset your MFA to allow you to set it up again. We will need to verify your identity so please email us at help@strath.ac.uk from the personal email address you have registered in Pegasus and quote your DS username and university email address.
