The error message "XML Response could not be parsed" can appear in Turnitin when you try to submit a file with a filename that contains more than 40 characters.

If you encounter this error, please first try changing the filename to something shorter than 40 characters and try submitting it again.

If the error still persists, please get in touch with help@strath.ac.uk with some further information:

  1. Which web browser are you using?
  2. If you try another web browser (e.g. Firefox or Chrome), is there any difference in the error?
  3. If not, please include a full-screen screenshot of the page where the error message is appearing.

This error may also be a transient message resulting from the Turnitin Service.

Staff responsible for the activity can normally see where there has been an issue like this and are offered a "Resubmit to Turnitin" option on the assignment activity's list of submissions.
