Unfortunately, sometimes customers can’t find an item in the place where it should be on our shelves. With over a million print volumes it is not surprising that occasionally items get misplaced or misshelved. We need you to tell us about these problems so that we can find or replace missing stock and keep our catalogue accurate and up to date. If you have checked our shelves and can’t find something please report it to staff at one of our Enquiries Desks.


When you report a missing item to us we will suggest alternative resources in order to help you right away. We will also try to find the item by making thorough checks over a period of 6 months, and will consider purchasing a replacement if we can’t find the missing item.


We will ask if you want to be informed of the progress of our searches. If you are still interested in borrowing the missing item, we will place a reservation request for you – this means you will be contacted if we find it or if we purchase a replacement. If at any time you are no longer interested in waiting for the item you can cancel this request by logging in to your Library Account on SUPrimo or the Strathclyde Mobile App.


Unfortunately, some missing items of stock are never found. If we cannot find the item after 6 months we will cancel any outstanding reservations and remove the record from SUPrimo.
